After the collaboration with Bulgari Hotels and ACPV ARCHITECTS in Milan, another project was launched including the whole design team, this time in London.

One of the peculiarities of this his project was the location of all public spaces of the Hotel underground, making the role of the lighting project even more crucial in the overall feeling of the space.

The challenge for the Hotel lighting project was to deliver a pleasant atmosphere, while being 20 m underground in the Spa swimming pool, through a balanced lighting scheme without excessive contrast and light levels. A wide range of spaces with majestic finishings compose the overall context: Vicenza stone, green onyx, chrome plating metal, gold mosaic, teak wood dress up the walls, and the architectural features.

The Hotel lighting strategy was to avoid homogeneous illumination and create focal points for orienting the guest’s eye on the precious finishes and various situations and setups. Grazing light on walls covered with iconic materials are used to define the space and guide also the views of the guest.

The London Bulgari Hotel lighting project included an extensive light integration in millwork or architectural features exposing artwork and interior design elements giving out a domestic nuance in the various typologies of public spaces. At the same time, introducing wide coffer ceilings offer the basic layer of illuminance and a subtle daylight effect at daytime and a more scenographic setup at night.

A wide variety of custom fixtures was designed with the architects for illuminating but also transforming the lamp into a logo of the space, a unique feature in the space delivering the identity of the Hotel.
