Bulgari Hotel Roma awarded by IES
October 21st, 2024
There are some projects that are precious, that arise from a formidable synergy, from an ever-lively collaboration and from a particular affinity in design intents. From these projects, stories are born that span years, and their values remain valid, becoming true guidelines, design principles and key points around which narratives unfold.
The collaboration with Bulgari Hotel & Resort and ACPV Architects is one of those remarkable stories.
It began two decades ago, in 2004, with the inauguration of the first Bulgari Hotel in Milan. This project laid the foundation for a research, still going on, into innovative lighting solutions and ad hoc custom fixtures that aim to be original, appropriate, and in some ways visionary, setting the stage for a long-standing effort to push the boundaries of lighting design.
The realization of such a complex project as the one in Rome was possible precisely because of this continuous fil-rouge that was never broken. The building in which the hotel is located has immense historical value and sets a vivid dialogue and a deep relationship with the city: no less important than the rest of the project was the restoration of the adjacent square, the return to the city of the original fountain and its inscriptions, the mosaics on the facade, and the beauty of the portici.
For all those reasons and many other more, we are thrilled to announce that Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts in Roma has received the prestigious Award of Merit from IES (Illuminating Engineering Society) for “its outstanding contribution to lighting design”.
The award certificate is pinned on the office’s bulletin board, because it’s nice to have important things always in sight.
