Tiffany Wonder is the mesmerizing experience just inaugurated at the breathtaking setting of Tokyo Node gallery, on the 45th floor of Toranomon Hills Station Tower. A location particularly significant due to the special, long bond and enduring cultural relation blending the Maison with Japan.
It is with the most appropriate title that the exhibition, the largest ever created by Tiffany, celebrates an unparalleled history of exceptional craftsmanship, legendary diamonds and creativity that, deeply rooted in the brand’s DNA, sparked and inspired wonder for almost two centuries.
The scenographic staging, the latest of a series of prestigious collaborations between studio OMA and Tiffany & Co, unfolds through a sequence of 10 distinct, evocative rooms, offering an immersive journey across central moments and awesome, emblematic references linked to the splendid, gorgeous identity of the House. Each section proposes one-of-a-kind choreographic environment, highlighting themes and keynotes of this rich, endless pursuit of beauty.
Metis Lighting has been part of these spectacular chapters embodying
unrivaled decades of elegance and sensibility, adding magic sparks to the intriguing contextualization of the challenging visual itinerary. Light skillfully plays different roles, adapting and elevating the narrative tone of the diverse scenarios. Focused on enhancing an atmospheric theatrical tension or a sense of playfulness, it entices with histrionic versatility the audience, intensifying oneiric contexts or hypnotic encounters spread along this wonderland.
It was a complex and demanding, but also extremely rewarding task that required technical competence, experience and sensitivity, imperative ingredients for allowing fabulous stones in small glass cases to leap out in their superb quintessential and balancing as in a musical score the atmospheric tones of a narrative melody. Light, as one of the most powerful compositional tools, has the strength to reinforce the storytelling, finding the most seductive and expressive voice to emphasise the scene without overwhelming it.
Articulated according to polyhedric performances, this grand review of a unique artistic heritage leads the visitor, undertaking the meandering experience from ambiences that recall from its origins the timeless tale of Tiffany wrapped in shades of blue, the iconic signature color, identifying trademark of the company since its beginning.
Scenic rigor follows pauses of exuberance and light strategically increases with gradations of intensity the climax of expectation. A sequence of glowing ceiling frosted white glass cubes pour soft luminosity into a dark space, punctuating with hieratic solemnity a long path gradually ending in the discovery of the dream-like vision of priceless pieces.
In a completely monochromatic black box hidden sources of diffuse radiance turn on as shiny sparkles rhomboidal vitrines cut and embedded into the walls like gems. Light enlivens rhythm and shapes in geometric sequence of the suggestive, futuristic-sounding arrangement as well as the dazzling bright language of eye-popping displayed diamonds, jewels, rarities of extraordinary quality standards.
